Building Resilience and Restoring Hope: Empowering Displaced Women and Girls in Nigeria’s Northeast

This initiative receives funding from Women Peace and Humanitarian Funds and UN Women, and it is carried out by the Debbie Kauna Foundation in the northeastern region of Nigeria, located in West Africa.

The primary objective of this project is to provide stability and support to women and girls who have been displaced due to insurgency, forcing them to leave their homes and villages in order to escape imminent danger. Many of these women and girls have already managed to return to their homes, while others are currently residing in nearby host communities.

In this project,  Debbie Kauna Foundation aims to empower a total of 959 women across seven local government areas in Adamawa State.

The Project started with an advocacy visit to Government stake holders

and then Mobilization of Local government stake holders and leaders

During the course of this project, women were provided with grants and underwent comprehensive training on business management, enabling them to develop sustainable and thriving ventures.

The Debbie  Kauna Foundation distributed grants of thirty thousand naira to beneficiaries, allocating ten thousand naira specifically for the establishment of financial services. Through a partnership with the Development Exchange Center, women were not only provided with loans but also received valuable guidance on managing their funds effectively.

Below are some pictures from the entire project.
